STEVE BIGGS

DATE OF BIRTH: 10th July, 1969

INSTRUMENT: Bass Guitar/Guitars

HISTORY: Born at Hallam Hospital in West Bromwich and raised on the Yew Tree Estate in Walsall. He got in to music at an early age by listening to his mums old record player, listening mainly to Elvis Presley albums, some Jim Reeves and Gene Pitney.

It was Elvis that he enjoyed the most, sensing the 'King's passion for performing music. Biggs watched early Elvis movies on TV and would snip bits of live performances. Later on Biggs dreamed of playing guitar but, his family could not afford a guitar and so he had to wait until he was older.

From the age of 10, he and a few friends got into 'Heavy Metal' and such British bands as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Def Lepard and UFO. The Australian band AC/DC was probably his favourite and even to this day he tries not to miss any of their concerts when they tour in the UK.

Biggs also found another desire. BMX riding. The cost of BMX's was very high and so he had to build one bit by bit - wheels for Christmas and bar/brakes for his Birthday. Until he eventually had his Dream (customised) bike. Mark Lunn will testify that Biggsy was known as 'The BMX King' by everyone who lived in the surrounding areas!

Towards the end of his school years he and some close mates started the band 'WOUNDED SPIRIT'. Taken from the name of an ancient medicine man. This band would progress over the years (over a decade in all) playing gigs in Covent Garden, producing tracks for episodes of Baywatch and even the sale of their own single 'Alone'.

Biggsys experimentation with music, led to the creation of a 'side' band called 'THE ALOMO', a band that featured his younger cousin Mark. In Wounded Spirit, Biggs was the lead guitarist but, in The Alomo, Biggs played rhythm guiar to help nurture the growing talents of his cousin.

Biggs remained with Wounded Spirit after The Alomo split up. He would continue to play with Jason, Terry, Elton and Benno until the Spainish tour. Shortly after their return, Wounded Spirit faded away. Biggs was given the opportunity of joining the band that Mark and Steven were creating...

...He accepted.

FIRST MUSICAL EXPERIENCE: "My first gig with Wounded Spirit was at a pub in West Bromwich called 'The Prince Of Wales'. We were supporting 'THE WAZZOCKS'. I was so nervous - I couldn't stop shaking, but aided by the crowd, we performed well - with only 3 songs and then to do an encore with a track we had only just started working on. It was Great!

MUSICAL HEROES: "My greatest hero of them all would have to be Angus Young of AC/DC. Just the sheer talent of their live performance makes him stand out. He is a real Rock 'n' Roll genius!"

GREATEST ACHEIVEMENT: It was the greatest feeling for him, when he successfully pulled off a tricky BMX stunt known as a One hand, One foot - Quarter Pipe Jump at the Birmingham 'Wheels' BMX Centre.

DESCRIBE PLACID CAT: "Placid cat are a great 'live' band, we always look forward to playing gigs. We get a good, high energy feeling that makes all the hard work and everything worthwhile! We are a solid (stay together) band, we love what we do and are 100% committed to our passion."

FAVOURITE CATSONG: "I must say that my favorite song is SHE'LL BE THERE, its about treating a girl you are in love with, with a little respect and not treating her badly just because you are in a band or successful elsewhere. If she loves you, then SHE'LL BE THERE whether you become successful or not."
