MARK LUNN
DATE OF BIRTH: 7th October, 1976
INSTRUMENT: Guitars/Vocals
HISTORY: Born at Hallam Hospital in West Bromwich and raised in Walsall, Mark discovered his musical talents at an early age. He didn't always want to be a musician though, he wanted to be an Astronaut or an Archaeologist (the combined influences of STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES). Raised on a steady diet of Action Man and Transformers, Marks vivid imagination was nurtured to the point of insanity until he attempted to find some creative release.
He met fellow band member Biggs in his infant years as they are cousins.
Art was a particularly strong skill until he was midway through his high school, when he chose to take the option of a GCSE in Music. The two year course fine tuned his already ample talents - capable already of playing keyboards, brass, woodwind and stringed instruments - before learning to play percussion instruments too!
The first band he formed was a school band called MYTH. This is where he developed his chunky guitar playing techniques. This was also the forum for his first compositional outings in rock/grunge/thrash style sounds.
At the age of eighteen, he and Biggs formed a band called the ALOMO. An eclectic mix of Nirvana covers and original home spun rock that lasted for about eight months. This is where he first met Jamie Malpass, who had responded to an advert for a drummer in a local news paper.
Mark moved on to join a band called BIGGER THAN ROD, a band that he admired long before joining it. This was to be the last goup he would be in for four years, whilst he concentrated on work and relationships.
FIRST MUSICAL EXPERIENCE: "I sang a duet with a girl called Dorothy Swindon. It was Music Of The Night from the show Phantom Of The Opera. We were only nine or ten years old, but she had such a beautiful voice!"
MUSICAL HEROES: Many, ranging from Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Sting, Metallica, Rolf Harris, Bach, Beethoven, David Arnold and "My mate Rob, who taught me how to rock!"
GREATEST ACHEIVEMENT: A tour of Spain in 1999. He joined Wounded Spirit when their rhythm guitarist dropped out and learned all the guitar parts in a matter of hours.
DESCRIBE PLACID CAT: "Its a seven course dinner with a mint and coffee at the end."
FAVOURITE CATSONG: "I love all of them, but my favourite would be a toss up between HERE SHE COMES and FEEL. The orchestral sound of HERE SHE COMES makes me cry when I just think about it and FEEL has such amazing little harmonies in it!"
